This book is an introduction to D-Day and the Normandy landing beaches, plus the areas of action of the Airborne Forces.
It begins with preparatory chapters on the forces backing the landings ie Air and Sea Power. Then, like many other books, the section on the actions regarding the Airborne Forces begins with the US Forces, even though the first to land were elements of the British 6th Airborne Division, something I can never quite understand. Each beach is then addressed with its own chapter.
The design of the book is firmly based around photographs and so is profusely illustrated, with the text providing very basic information which is not without a few errors. Many famous photographs are employed but the real selling point for the book is the modern aerial views, which are superb. The maps are also clear and precise.
Overall, this is a very well presented book and should be very attractive to its target audience, ie those beginning their interest in D-Day. If you do fall into that category, then this will be of help in actually seeing the terrain of the various locations.
